The plant “Avtozaptchast” appeared in Orenburg in the beginning of Great Patriotic War. It was evacuated from Odessa in the period from June 22 to August 12, 1941. 204 metal-working machines were transported from Odessa to Mariupol and Novorossisk, 7 processors, 8 molding machines, tonnes of bronze, cast iron, instruments and other property. From Mariupol and Novorossisk trainloads were sent by rail train to Orenburg, where under the direction of Orenburg plant director built-over placements of former confectionary complex were prepared for placement of evacuated enterprise.

Plant equipment have been coming partially. The first part came in August 26, the second one – in October 28. The plant began its work in November 1st, 1941. Toolroom, machine-shop and repair shop were built on the production space to the 1st of January 1942. Galvanizing room operated on the territory of the plant named after Kirov S.M.

1072 people worked on the plant in 1942, 852 from them were workers, 588 employees were women and 241 – under aged.

Orenburg plant produced for the front the fuses for the 82 millimiters mines.

In the beginning of 1942 the plant got a new order – to develop the production of spare parts for tractor park and sovkhozes. The new workshop was bulit during 16 days and in April 20, 1942 the first 5 cores of radiators were produced. The territory of the workshop was not big. There was no proper equipment. Only 3 machines for tube production and 2 builders for cores’ tests were there.

In 1946 the plant re-orientated on production of spare parts for tractors and combines.

In November 1963 two plants “Avtozaptchast” and “Avtotractorodetal named after Kirov” were united into the plant “Tractoravtozaptchast”. In 1958 the plant began to produce radiators for tractors “Belarus”, T150, for combines – “Niva”, “Kolos”, etc.

In 1970 “Tractorozaptchast” was renamed into “Radiator”, in May 1971 Industrial Association “Radiator” was organized on the base of the following plants: Orenburg “Radiator”, Orsk “Avtotraktorodetal”, Sverdlovsk “Radiator”, Buguruslan “Radiator”, the plant of Buzuluk named after Kirov.

The plant developed and began to produce new types of products. In October 1992 Industrial Association “Radiator” was reorganized into OJSC (Open Joint-Stock Company) “Radiator”.

In 1994 the plant began to model and to produce radiators for cars. In two years it started to cooperate with Swedish firm “Outocumpu”. This cooperation made possible to produce high-performance radiators with cooling area, type “Splitter-Fin”.

In January 2000 OJSC “Radiator” became a part of the holding company “Ural Mining – Metallurgical Company”. At that time it started mass production of radiators for cars.

In September 2001 “Radiator” became CJSC (Closed Joint – Stock Company), which sold its products through trading house – the firm “Union-Radiator” LLC, that also was a part of “Ural Mining-Metallurgical Company”. Later in April 1st, 2003 “Union-Radiator” LLC was renamed into “Orenburgsky radiator” LLC.
